IN the mood for a little variation on an old Fairytale? This lovely photo of a Fairytale Cottage in the Woods has inspired me! :) They had come home, at last. Cold, shaking, and exhausted. Having wandered for hours through the forest, the breadcrumbs theyd left on the trail long since devoured by hungry squirrels, Hansel and Gretl, as night had fallen again, had, together, seen the faint warm glow of their parents lamp light, left on long after they would usually have put it out for the evening, in hopes that their twins, boy and girl, would know on sight that they were loved. After a long embrace and some gruel, kept hot above the fireplace, the two children started talking, just a bit. Timidly, they first apologized to their parents, whose faces wore the expression of tired desperation, for going too far away from the established routes, and then they began the tale of the old woman in the woods whod first lured them inside, and then, had almost pushed them, both, into the oven. After another hug from their father, one twin under each arm, he explained that too often, in times of deep winter, that the old ones who had nothing and no way of sustenance, would sometimes resort to child stealing. The rest, he knew, they now understood. They would never again roam so far away from their own hearth. From Home.
