INDIA: 5-storey building collapses in Mahim after heavy rain; 4 dead in Mumbai. Another tragic building collapse in Mahim, Mumbai has left four people dead and six injured. The injured include a fireman and many are feared trapped in the debris. Altaf Mansion, the five-storey building on Cadell Road collapsed late on Monday night after it rained heavily in the city. Around 10 to 12 people are feared trapped and rescue operations are still underway. More than 60 fire brigade officials and three Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) teams are at the spot and the National Disaster Response Force, too, has been called in to help rescue the trapped. An elderly woman is amongst the dead when a portion of the building caved in, apparently due to rain, in Mahim in central Mumbai today, a municipal officer said. The injured have been shifted to Bhabha Hospital in suburban Bandra, KEM and at Sion Hospital.
