INFORMATION SERIOUS ASSAULT - GOONELLABAH A lot of questions and reports came in about this incident while it went on and continued in Carlton Avenue. Lismore Radio did not respond to enquiries or post about what transpired for safety reasons of police officers involved. It is also understood that a formal media release will be issued about the situation which will be shared when it is received. In the meantime, I can reveal that police initially left the location because the person of interest ran away. They returned a short time later with numbers to arrest the person of interest when he was located and he was taken into custody. He is well known to police. It was a very good result for police. Police response times to urgent/priority jobs in Goonellabah are normally less than ten minutes. They responded to this job in less than two minutes with further police arriving just minutes later. It is understood at least seven police officers responded in all including an unmarked vehicle and a senior police supervisor. It often seems pretty bad in Goonellabah but police do get there pretty quickly when something serious happens and usually with numbers.
