INSECURITY IN NIGERIA According to United Nation Security - TopicsExpress

INSECURITY IN NIGERIA According to United Nation Security Council, which state that security is the protection of citizens life, rights and property by the government. The frame work for constitutional recognition of security in Nigeria as the fundamental objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy was initiated by the 1976 reform and legally consolidated with the incorporation in the 1979, 1989, and 1999 constitution respectively. The 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Section 14 subsection 2(a) State that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government. But in spite of all this recognition security in Nigeria have suffered a lot of neglect, critics and politicization. Security lapses are order of the day, kidnapping, terrorism, arm robbery e.t.c. Nigeria is known for its strong military operation in African, our peace mission in Liberia, Mali and other sub Saharan Africa but charity begins at home. The federal government 2014 budget, security has the highest allocation. Have that stop insecurity in Nigeria? I think no. Many military operative have lost their lives and jobs due to insecurity in the country, the federal government declares state of emergence in the affected states and set up a committee on peace and conflict resolution to find lasting solution to the security challenge in the country. But that have not yield any positive result. Nigeria is a country that always searches for solution to problem instead of causes of the problem. The genesis of insecurity in Nigeria is poverty, unemployment, bad leadership and followership, illiteracy, lack of social amenities e.t.c. Government must live up its fundamental objective and directive principle to stop the menace of insecurity in the country. It is said that a hungry man is an angry man, and an idle mind is the devil workshop, so government should create employment opportunity for restless youth in the country and reduce the gap between the rich and poor in the Nigeria. Let join hands to stop insecurity in Nigeria. #OBALUM CHUKWUKA HENRY
