INTERNET FORUM OF THE ISLAMIC MOVEMENT IN NIGERIA UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF SAYYID ZAKZAKY(H) Martyrdom: The Secret of Victory in The Struggle to Raise The Flag of Islam: In the name of Allah the Most Beneficent the Most Merciful. For the tragic and irreparable loss of 34 members of the Islamic Movenent in Nigeria among which 3 were the paternal sons of the leader of the movement Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky(H) who were brutally killed by the tyrant Nigerian army on 25th of July 2014 during the peaceful International Qudus Day procession in Zaria. I will at first, on behalf of the entire members of the above named forum extend a message of condolence to the revered leader, Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky(H). We in a heavy heart and sorrow extend our condolence. While we continue to mourn their death, we pray that Allah in his infinite wisdom and mercy repose their souls, grant them eternal rest, make Aljannah Firdaus their final abode. Besides, the flag of Islam is raised by the blood of martyrs. Martyrdom exists as an active and powerful force in the ideology if Islam and this is to understand why it has such powerful roots and such great symbolic weight. It is also necessary to examine the different levels at which the concept manifest itself.It exist initially at the Quranic level and then takes on an expanded and active life in the minds of the Muslim people through the unfolding of its history. With the Quranic verses and Prophetic Hadith furnishing a rich foundation, the tree of martyrdom grew like a powerful oak within the house of Islam. Early event of historic importance added weight to the power of Quranic tenets and the ground work was laid for a perception of martyrdom, which while falling short of being a fully developed philosophy, neverthless ran as a consistent and dynamic current through Islamic history. The Holy Quran says: And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah(God) : They are dead, Nay, they are living, Though you pearcive it not. (Quran 2:154). and Think not of those who are slain in Gods way as dead. Nay, They live, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord...... Other passages can be found in 3:157-171, 22:58 and integrated into numerous other verses of the Quran. The brutal killing of Shaheed Ahmad, Shaheed Hamid, Shaheed Mahmud including other 31 members of the movement among other martyrs brutally killed by other regimes tyranically such as Abachas regime stands as symbol for a view in the history of the movement in the unceasing battle between good and evil, between the suppressed and the oppressed. No doubt, 25th of July 2014 in the history of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria is akin to Iranian black friday. According to Imam Khumain(Q.S), Martyrdom is the secret if victory . Large scale of conflicts(such as Iranian revolution) took in this symbolic significance with the symbol of Imam Hussain(as). Imam Hussain typified the concept of revolt against tyranny. Iran embraced the spirit of martyrdom, and their fear of personal harm and death overcome and in the long run stood as a the hidden secret for the success of their their revolution. Taken a look at the growth of Islam intialy during the Prophets era, the Holy Prophet faced a severe opposition and humiliation. The Qureshite community had a dream of destruction of the Holy Prophet(pub & hf) and his religion. The pegan tribe of Macca were also sharing the same dream. The both considered the Holy Prophet(s) a serious menace to their religion, similarly to our current situation where the tyrannical government of Nigeria and their allies--Western arrogance and imperialists-- consider sheikh Zakzaky and his call a serious menace to their divide and rule policy as long as their hidden agenda and long term plan for looting the unviable resource seen in the region. This belief by Pegan Meccans resulted into several confrontations in which the Muslims had the upper hand. Many companions of the Holy Prophet were brutally tutured and several others were martyred in several confrontations in an effort and struggle of the Holy Prophet to raise the flag of Islam. Sumayyah ibn Shabbat was the first woman martyr who was killed by Abu Jahal. Her husband Ammar ibn Yasir was severely tutured by same Abu Jahal. Their house were burnt, they were chained and mercilessly whipped till blood fowed out. They brougt touches and began burning their bodies. Food and water was denied to Bilal ibn Rabah till he loss his senses. In the battle of Badr, Tabuk and Hunayn, several companions of the Holy Prophet were martyred before finally came the victory of Islam in Fatahu Makkah. At this juncture, I must mention as to why the warrios of Islam were victoruos ? It was due the fact that till the last moment of their victory they had no motive except that of Jihad in the way of Allah and acceptance of martyrdom than to surrender to peganism and imperialism. I repeat, Friday 25th July 2014 in the history of Islamic Movement in Nigeria is akin to Iranian black Friday. Why ? This is because the movement has taken the concept and system of Iranian Islamic revolution which came to be through the effort of worthy men and blood of thousands of martyrs and disabled veteran(living martyrs) and which is regarded as a source of hope and inspirations to millions of the oppressed human beings. We all know that the great revolution which severed the tentacles of the tyrannical World-Mongsrs from the face and form of Iran was made possible by divine grace only, as we are similarly hoped that to our nation(Nigeria). Islam and Islamic government are divine phenomena, the utilization of which ensures the happiness of man for all the times in this World and the hereafter. It is the only and only system that put an end to injustice and corruption and help muslim to achieved ideal perfection. In conclusion, as a result of what this tyrannical government and its contractors--the Western arrogance-- did to Islamic Movement( the irreparable and unforgetful loss of 34 members of the movement through gun shooting), warm is kindled in our hearts that shall not become cold till the day we find that Islam is back to this great nation by the sake and sacrifice of blood of martyrs sheded.
