INTRO: Boundary delegates from Laos and Cambodia met in Vientiane to find solutions to border related issues which remain outstanding after technical teams from both sides could not reach agreement. STORY: The Extraordinary Meeting of the Lao-Cambodian; Cambodia -Lao Joint Boundary Commission was conducted at the proposal of technical teams from both sides in order to settle the points where they could not reach an agreement in accordance with the agreed minutes of the 6th meeting of the Lao-Cambodian; Cambodian-Lao Joint Boundary Commission. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Lao-Cambodian Joint Boundary Commission, Saleumxay Kommasith said Laos considers border issues as one of the national priorities and crucial matters of national destiny. The peoples of Laos and Cambodia have been strengthened and fruitfully bolstered, especially to promote and strengthen cooperation in the area of border affairs between the two countries, aiming at building a border of peace and stability and to promote and facilitate border trade and improve living standards of the people of the two countries. He said, the two countries will enter into the Asean Economic Community (AEC) at the end of next year, which will bring enormous economic opportunities, facilitate the flow of people and improve the living standards of the people of the two countries During his opening remarks Deputy Minister Saleumxay also expressed his great honour to the leader of the Cambodian delegation Var Kim Hong, who is Minister in charge of Border Affairs and the Chairman of the Cambodian-Lao Joint Boundary Commission. He noted that Var Kim Hong has ample and extensive experience in the area of diplomacy as well as border affairs. The meeting was conducted amidst the friendship ties and good cooperation between the two governments
