INVITATION TO SPECIAL MEETING We are pleased to invite all State Coordinators for National Democratic Movement to our a general meeting on 26th March 2014 at the NUJ building beside WAEC office Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos State. Time:11.00am-4.00pm. There will be a Press Conference after the meeting. We also wish to seize this opportunity to invite some special individuals who have contributed to awareness of this movement. Below is a script on the aims and objectives of the National Democratic Movement of Nigeria. We would appreciate working with all youth groups in Nigeria in our quest at building stronger Institutions for the country. INTRODUCTION OF NDM We are pleased to introduce the National Democratic Movement (NDM) of Nigeria to you with the view that we would be able to work together in improving our democratic system and local communities. We are a Non-governmental organization with membership across the length and breadth of Nigeria as well as in some parts of Europe especially in the United Kingdom under the auspices of the Justice and Law Enforcement Reformation Organization. The National Democratic Movement is not a political party. Our primary objective is to protect the interest of the public against corrupt public officers and as well support government in building stronger Institutions in Nigeria through quality representation at the State and National Assemblies. We cannot eradicate corruption, crime and other forms of criminalities without building stronger institutions which are much needed to develop our communities and provide equal opportunities for all Nigerians regardless of their tribe, religion or population. As an organization we are mobilizing Nigerians at the grass root to appreciate the importance of building stronger Institutions through quality representation and to ensure that the electorates in 2015 general election vote only those candidates who are ready to protect the interest of their community at the State or National Assembly. Nigerians no doubt deserves quality representations and legislations that will promote industrial development, employment opportunities and as well address the security challenges in our various communities. After 14 years of Democracy in Nigeria, there is the need to address the issue of corruption from the perspective of building stronger Institutions in the country. The National Democratic Movement is therefore mobilizing Nigerians with strong desire and commitment to serve their communities under the Public Interest Protection Agreement with the Justice and Law Enforcement Reformation Organization. The aim is to eradicate corruption and develop our local governments. In other words we stand in the gap between the political class and the electorates. We are willing to collaborate with any or all the political parties in the States of the Federation to ensure and possibly provide candidates who are willing to represent their community at the State Assembly, House of Representatives or Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Public Interest Protection Agreement (PIPA) The aim of this project is not about the aspiration of any individual to contest election into the State or National Assembly, Governorship or Presidential Aspirants. We are willing to collaborate with all the political parties Nigeria in our quest at protecting public interest against corrupt public officers who only get elected to become a stooge to their Governor who deprive the local governments of their statutory allocation every month or members of the National Assembly who earns 45-58 million Naira every quarter at the detriment of their local government. Candidates who sincerely desire to serve their community and are willing to represent their community at the State Assembly, Federal Constituency or Senatorial Districts can now contribute to the development of their communities on the following terms and conditions: 1. Candidates willing to contest election into the State or National Assembly must meet the constitutional requirements to contest election under this initiative for the 2015 election. 2. The candidates must have agreed to sign the Public Interest Protection Agreement with the Justice and Law Enforcement Reformation Organization on behalf of their community to stand for election into the State or National Assembly under this cooperative understanding with the party. This agreement is aimed at ensuring that the candidates to be presented for election in 2015 are bond by certain terms and conditions. 3. Candidates willing to contest election under this cooperative agreement must be/are ready to serve their respective communities without recourse to constituency allowances and other undue privileges. THE ROLE OF NDM IN THE PIPA The National Democratic Movement under the auspices of the Justice and Law Enforcement Reformation will as an independent Non-governmental Organization work with the various political parties in ensuring that all candidates standing for election into the State or National assembly sign the PIPA. We would also mobilize and sensitize our various communities to vote for only those aspirants who have signed the PIPA for the forth coming general election. Finally, we would encourage those Nigerians who sincerely want to serve their respective community but could not find a space within the existing political structure to come forward and contest election under the NDM-PIPA initiative aimed at: • Protecting public interest against corrupt public officers • Building stronger Institutions a. The Legislative arm of Government b. The Judiciary c. The Nigeria Police Force & other enforcement agencies d. Public Service e. Private Sector • Combating Corruption, crime and other forms of criminalities • Providing equal opportunities for all Nigerians to contest election and represent their community. • Serve as an intermediary between the Political parties, elected representatives and the public. • As an independent body we shall enforce the “Public Interest Protection Agreement” signed by elected representatives under this initiative with the various political parties. The National Democratic Movement will publish list of aspirants willing to serve their community under the “Public Interest Protection Agreement” and their political party in the National News papers 60 days to the election. We would then mobilize our members across the 774 local governments to campaign against aspirants who fail to sign the PIPA with this organization in our quest at protecting our communities. The Justice and Law Enforcement Reformation Organization is willing to collaborate with any/all the political parties in Nigeria in our determination to assisting the government of Nigeria in building stronger institutions for the country. We are therefore calling on all registered political parties to join hands with this organization in our quest at improving the quality of representation at the next election. Similarly we are calling on all individuals willing to contest election into the State or National Assembly in 2015 and are will to protect the interest of their community to please register their interest with National Democratic Movement.
