IRISH RACING WEEKEND PREVIEWS Venue: LEOPARDSTOWN Date: 25 January 2014 First Race: 1.05pm (Seven Races - National Hunt) Going: Yielding to Soft, Good to Yielding in places on the hurdle track; Soft, Yielding in places on the chase track €100,000 Boylesports handicap kicks off a cracking weekend of racing at Leopardstown • Handicap king Tony Martin has the warm favourite to land one of the biggest handicaps in the Jumps calendar when Quick Jack lines up in the €100,000 Boylesports Handicap Hurdle at Leopardstown tomorrow. Twenty-four runners go to post including five in the ownership of JP McManus. • The Boylesports is one of two €100,000 handicaps on the card, the second being the Leopardstown Handicap Chase at 2.50pm. Twenty-two runners line up for that race including the Arthur Moore-trained Talbot Road, who slips into the race off a weight of 10-3 with David Casey in the saddle. • The Grade 2 Boylesports Killiney Novice Chase has only four runners but plenty of quality. Djakadam justified market support when winning on his chase debut at Leopardstown at Christmas but the mount of Paul Townend has quality hurdler Bright New Dawn, Road To Riches and Mullaghanoe River to deal with. • The fascinating seven-race card at Leopardstown begins at 1.05pm. Venue: LEOPARDSTOWN Date: 26 January 2014 First Race: 12.50pm (Seven Races - National Hunt) Going: Yielding to Soft, Good to Yielding in places on the hurdle track; Soft, Yielding in places on the chase track Hurricane Fly odds-on to equal Istabraqs record of four consecutive BHP Irish Champion Hurdles • Eighteen-time Grade 1 winner Hurricane Fly returns to his favorite haunt on Sunday to take on three rivals in a fascinating BHP Insurance Irish Champion Hurdle. His two young rivals, Jezki and Our Conor, again re-oppose but they will have to improve markedly from the Ryanair Hurdle at Christmas to trouble the two-time Champion Hurdle winner. • The BHP-sponsored Irish Champion Hurdle, worth €71,500 to the winner, is one of two Grade 1s on a sparkling card; the other, the Frank Ward Solicitors Irish Arkle Chase, is a cracking two-mile novice chase that will decide Irelands best contender for the Racing Post Arkle at Cheltenham. • Defy Logic won the two-mile race at Christmas, beating Champagne Fever and others, and champion trainer Willie Mullins sends Felix Yonger and Mozoltov into battle this time around, to try and topple Paul Nolans stable star. • Larne trainer Stuart Crawford has enjoyed a superb season with his team and his top young horse Gilt Shadow takes on Grade 2 company in the Synergy Solutions Novice Hurdle, facing six opponents including the Mullins-trained Sure Reef, a maiden hurdle winner at the track in December. • The action at Leopardstown on Sunday begins at 1.00pm
