IRISHTOWN FC 3 -V- 2 CLONSHAUGH Another victory for us today in the fortress that is Ringsend park.. A blustry windy morning in the park but that didnt stop the game from giving plenty of excitement to the increasing crowds we are getting each week. Our # 1 fan Anthony Keegan as always was there to shout us on. So onto the game, 11oc came and away we went. We were refereed by one of the younger referees in this division which meant he was well able to keep up with the flowing play. We began well against the strong wind and played lovely possession football, keeping it low and lots of one touches. This proved to be the key to the first half. We went one nil up after 15 minutes after we got a free kick around 20 yards out, Step up Pato Kavanagh to put it over the wall and to the keepers right, a sublime finish it was. After this we pushed on and went 2 ahead not long after. Midfield Dynamo and Captain Smurph finishing well to make it 2-0. A superb header from a pin point cross from our right powered home Here I have to add that said cross came form our very own David I think Im Cesc Fabregas Oneill, who confidently tells me this is his 22nd assist of the season. But I digress, back to the game. 2-0 up and we were cruising, the opposition couldnt keep up with us. Alas though we gave away a poor goal from a very short back pass and their striker couldnt believe his luck 2-1. However we quickly went 2 ahead again with good play across the team finishing at the feet of smurph again to finish well in front of goals, and return our 2 goal lead. so half time came and went. This certainly was certainly was a game of 2 halves. Seconds half the away team put a lot more pressure on looking to get back into the game. We defended well though and again lads put their bodies on the line. The away team pushed hard but chances were of a premium. It can be said that the team playing against the wind in both halves played the better football. so with around 15 minutes to go Clonshaugh got their second to give them hope, We cleared a cross from their right only for the ball to be put back in quickly. The ball bounced around a bit and was poked home. This gave the away team a lot of heart. The last 15 minutes were quite frenetic, and end to end. Irishtowns management made the changes at the right times. It was a bit of backs to the walls for us, but again this week our back 4 were superb. Well done to James Alan and Dave. The time counted down ,and the final whistle went. Another home victory to see us sitting joint top of the table, although its early days. Our MOTM award I am reliably told was shared. Well done to Phillip Fitzgerald, and well done to Jason McDonnell ( thats me by the way). Phillip was everywhere on the pitch. I dare not comment about myself. So there it is folks, another week over, and another win for this local side. Well done to everyone involved. Well deserved win yet again Ole,Ole, Ole.
