IS SLPP AN ALTERNATIVE GOVERNMENT ? BY Alfred Jaiah. In my opinion SLPP is ready for government or even win an election if things remain the way they are. Due to infighting and other internal çonflicts, the party is fragmented with visible cracks, and is very weak, weak and weak. SLPP needs to be organised into a national decisplined cohesive force in order to reverse the decline in support. Right now what we urgently need a charismatic leader with the requisite dynamism to oversee an overall radical changes compatible with the norms and aspirations of our party Secondly the party is out of touch with grassroots voters and the national executive need no time to waste in mapping out a distinctive approach geared towards change. In this regard the party needs to establish a communication directorate responsible to act as a medium between the party and the voters. At present the partys propaganda machine has no cutting edge and therefore lack the abilities to imform the masses of its programmes and achievements and agendas Organising the party at grassroots levels mean you need at least three constituency offices In each district to act as catalysts to sensitise the masses on party activities. They need to reached the people far and wide, through out the length and breadth of the country. Should penetrate the north and the western areas, take votes from the opponent as they are taking from the southern and eastern regions. The party should go through a modernisation process based on change or new direction, and should try to bring our people together in a way that unites our nation to face the though and dangerous challenges that come with the changes. For SLPP to stand any chance of winning the 2017 regional and general elections, the party needs to overhaul its strategies of operations. Let us dont sit back and relax predicting that SLPP would win. Lets not always rely on divine intervention to change our lives, sometimes we need to take our destinies into our own hands. I think we need to adopt some aggressive stance against the APC where necessary. Its time to send a strong message to Christiana Thorpe and Slyvia Blyden that weve had enough, SLPP, THE ONLY OUT, THE ONLY FORWARD AND THE ONLY WAY THROUGH, SLPP POWER TO THE PEOPLE.
