IS THE LIVE MUSIC SCENE BROKEN? If you take a look around - TopicsExpress

IS THE LIVE MUSIC SCENE BROKEN? If you take a look around social media over the last 24 hours youd think it was in tatters. The amount of negativity that permeates around a cancelled festival, and the enormous volume of people who had never even paid heed to an event jumping up and down claiming that it was inevitable. Those willing to indulge in conspiracy theories and throw accusations in all directions. Well, one event may have fallen, its not the first and it wont be the last, but the fact remains that hundreds of successful events are happening in the UK each week. Some may struggle, some may bloom, but the important thing is that people keep supporting those who do their best to bring you live music. At Headbangers Balls we fully believe in the music scene as a whole. That means supporting all events, bands and individuals who are willing to work hard to make our music that little bit better. Weve learned that positivity reaps its own rewards, and have some of the most amazing supporters we could hope for. So, we encourage you all not to get wrapped up in debates that can only destroy support of future events, and to instead double your positivity in those events that exist to give you what you all want - great music. Our own events may not be the biggest and best, but we are striving to be the best we can by investing our support in not only our own bands, but all those who support us. We believe that we can become stronger by not only looking inward, but by supporting and collaborating with bands, promoters, traders, media and events UK wide. Many support and share their experience with us behind the scenes, and we endeavour to use our stage to reciprocate in our own small way. We know other peoples success is good for us too. The point were making? Dont take sides in music by putting your stake so far into the ground it cant be removed. Be aware of the power of your actions on social media, especially as a band or page. Understand that allegiances are divisive. Negativity breeds. If you go through life looking for the best in people, you might just find it. Seek the worst, and you may become the product of your actions. Support each other, look for the positives. Theres nothing wrong with rose tinted glasses if they allow you to see the best of whats in front of you. Maybe just a little bit more of that in our music scene would be a good thing.
