ISRAEL: GODs Timepiece February 14, 2014 | Darrell Gleason ISLAMIST GROUPS FIND LAUNCHING PAD FOR FUTURE ATTACKS ON ISRAEL/EUROPE An Islamist militant group affiliated with al-Qaida is taking root in Lebanon so it can launch attacks against Israel and parts of Europe. Sources in the Middle East are warning that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levent, or ISIL, has moved into Lebanon to capitalize on sectarian differences between Sunni and Shiite Muslims. The ISIL, which is known for having strong ties to al-Qaida, is moving into urban areas of Lebanon, including the country’s capital, Beirut. World Net Daily is reporting that ISIL is acting in response to Hezbollah’s support of fighters on behalf of the Assad regime in Syria. Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed Shiite group, is labeled a terrorist organization by the United States and European Union. Hezbollah has longstanding resistance against Israel. Nevertheless, jihadist fighters associated with the ISIL are Sunni and analysts are viewing the three-year old civil war that has been raging in Syria as a proxy war between Saudi Arabia, which is the leader of Sunni Islam, and Iran. The Assad regime in Syria is receiving direct military aid from Iran, while opposition groups are largely comprised of al-Qaida fighters and others affiliated with various Islamist groups. Behind the scenes, Israel and Saudi Arabia have forged an informal alliance due their common opposition toward Iran. Until recently, there has never been an al-Qaida attack inside Israel, a development that analysts attribute to Saudi control over Sunni Islmaist militants. In January, Israel said it foiled a plot by al-Qaida to attack the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv. However, the target was not against any Israel sites. But analysts are saying that ISIL’s announcement that it will target Israel could signal a break from its ties to al-Qaida. Such a development could weaken al-Qaida leadership’s understanding with the Saudis not to launch attacks either in the Saudi kingdom or Israel. As ISIL has spread across Syria and into Lebanon, it has launched attacks against the western Sunni Anbar province in Iraq. And in early January, ISIL took credit for a deadly car bombing in an area of Beirut, known to be a stronghold of Hezbollah. In a recent recorded statement, ISIL leader Abu Sayyaf al-Ansari said he will use Lebanon as a platform for striking Israel. Al-Ansari claimed in the recording that he was speaking from the predominantly Sunni northern city of Tripoli where Islamic groups have been fighting the pro-Assad Arab Democratic Party since the Syrian crisis began. We pledge allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Husseini al-Qarashi al-Baghdadi and we will obey his orders, Abu Sayyaf said, referring to the Islamic State leader. Take us wherever you want, take us to difficulties and make us the point of your lance so that we crush your enemy. I call upon Sunnis in the Army of the Cross to fear God and leave this tyrant, he said, referring to the religiously mixed Lebanese army. Dont be a sword that Christians and Shiites carry to stab you. Read more at prophecynewswatch/2014/February14/144.html#5TSoKFAzxdbXykgX.99
