IT COULD HAVE BEEN ME Whenever I walk through Kings Square, Benin City, and see a lot of young men with one deformity or the other begging for alms, I say to myself, It could have been me. Whenever I hear of or see on TV people involved in fatal road accidents, with their bodies lying lifeless and blood flowing, I say to myself, It could have been me. Whenever I see on TV the battered bodies of people affected by bomb blasts, I say to myself, It could have been me. Whenever I see little children roaming the streets with no place to call home, no food to put in their stomachs, and no one to call a family, I weep and say to myself, It could have been me. I am not the most holy, faithful, righteous and deserving person, but Gods mercy has been there for me. I may not have everything in life, but God has made provision for my sufficiency. Many a times, I complain of not having this or that, and of not being this and this. But I realize that there are so many countless wonders of God in my life that I have not appreciated. It could have been me, but God has been kind and gracious. Thank you, Father! Why dont you go on your knees now and appreciate God. It could have been you.....
