IT IS A PROMISE TO ALL OF US In Matthew 16:19, Jesus Christ - TopicsExpress

IT IS A PROMISE TO ALL OF US In Matthew 16:19, Jesus Christ made a promise to you and me as long as we continue to abide in Him; “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” This verse is translated in The Message as; ‘And that’s not all. You will have complete and free access to God’s kingdom, keys to open any and every door: no more barriers between heaven and earth, earth and heaven. A yes on earth is yes in heaven. A no on earth is no in heaven.” I like this interpretation of The Message because it emphasizes the scope of this promise. One may argue that this promise was for Apostle Peter but wait a minute; we have what Peter never had then; the Holy Ghost. We who have and are filled with the Holy Ghost should hold this promise and claim it with faith. Who has access to God’s kingdom keys to open any and every door but he that is filled with the Holy Spirit whom the Lord promises in John 14:16 & 26? With His indwelling in us according to John 3:30, we can do all things (Philippians 4:13). Because we are heirs (Romans 8:17) there are no barriers for us between earth and heaven. We have access to our Heavenly Father; ‘And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father (Galatians 4:6).’ Read Romans 8:15. Apostle Paul understands this very well hence he encourages us to do this; ‘Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).’ If there were to be barriers, he could not have asked us to come boldly. Do I hear Satan fault this and say that it does not apply to you because of your sinful nature? I want to disappoint him (Satan) by reminding him of a certain blood; ‘But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin (1 John 1:7).’ See 1 John 1:9 also. The key to defeating Satan and all his pack of lies is faith in God’s Word. If the Word says that we’re forgiven when we ask, we must believe and quote the Word to Satan. If you’ve not confessed any sin that he tells you about, confess it instantly. I recommend that we confess our sins daily because there may be some that we may not know about. This promise of ours is not for us to receive and keep to ourselves. We must reach out to others to tell them about this promise so that we all may enjoy it as a family. Another reason why we must tell others about it is that it will enable us to have brethren that will agree with us; ‘Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven (Matthew 18:19).’ See Job 22:28 to see why more than one person means a lot to God. PRAYER POINT: Thank you Lord for this awesome power and authority that you have given to us by allowing us to bind and cast out those things that tend to oppose us; and loose those things that were tied which were for us. When I see a fellow human being oppressed and I stretch out my hand to free him, let it be according to your Word. Let your name alone be glorified as we do this in Jesus name.
