ITI, Ukl students demand regular principal Ukhrul, Jul 20: Trainees of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Ukhrul have demanded authority concerned to appoint regular Principal for the Institute for its smooth functioning. Interacting with the media, the students of ITI Kasomtang Complex, Ukhrul highlighted various shortages at ITI Ukhrul, today. Appointment of regular instructors for all trades, setting up of compact library facilities in the complex, improvement and construction of infrastructure in time, regular and transparent disbursement of monthly stipend, maintaining transparency in organising tour, reviving games and sports activities extending hostel facility to girls’ trainees are amongst others the demand raised by the students. After its inauguration, more than 10 technical trades have been opened at ITI complex at Kasomtang, Ukhrul with more than 20 staff. Among the staff, only five are appointed on re-gular basis while the rest are appointed on contract basis. The students said they have been pursuing various demands for the last four years. Principal in-charge of the Institute, Rs Shaiza said the performances of many staff and instructors are not satisfactory. Some of them were even absent for months. The Jeep, issued to the Institute by the motor mechanic Dept in 2010 for demonstration and other purposes was in the hand of the former principal i/c for last 2 years and returned on July 19 following instruction from the concerned official, he said. Above which he faces problem in dealing with the contract staffs, particularly of nonpayment of their pending salary for more than 9 months had suffered them a lot in many ways. His wish to authorized of ITI DDO to concern district administrator will more appropriate to check the truant of staff. The mentioned shortfalls were ascertained by Ukhrul Student Union (HKL) during an inspection drive led by its President, Khamreiso. At the same time, the union urged the concerned dept to look into the matter without further delay and ensure the shortages infrastructure are provided before the beginning of the session which is slated to begin from August.
