ITTO the UN agency for Sustainable Forest Management and Trade: The 50th session of the ITTC ended yesterday with the main agenda of selecting / electing a new executive director not completed. The selection which is normally conducted by consensus for shortlisted candidates has been tumultuous since 2007 especially if forced voting is done among member countries. I hope the voting procedures and criteria will be finalized and approved before the next ITTC session next year. Holding a special session prior to the regular session just for the purpose of ED election can also be a sound option.
