Ice storm status on trees in the City: As of 7:30 am Parks and Grounds have had 35 calls for downed trees and branches across streets and sidewalks. They had a crew work from 4-12 and another one from 12-8 overnight to respond and have mostly kept up. There will be staff on duty today that should be able to handle the call volume…for all of us waking up and assessing the fallen branches. For the parks/trails such as Irishtown, Mapleton, Centennial, Humphrey Brook Trail, Northwest trail, all access points are blocked and they will be closed due to the risk of falling ice and trees. Staff will not enter wooded areas until the risk of injury and damage has cleared. Parks will reopen once the ice has fallen off the trees and they are able to clean things up. They will maintain fire access to Mapleton Lodge, and the main buildings at Centennial. I guess hibernation mode continues today?
