Ick Cure - This isnt a thread on your opinion of the best way to cure Ick but rather a source, at least for US members, for an extremely effective remedy thats been used for years. A combination of formaldehyde and Malachite Green has been quite effective for Ick, costia, chilondonella and trichodina for years but especially effective against Ick. Problem is that in the US Aquarium Products and now later Mardel no longer make Quick Cure, which is the combo of these two meds. But finally another company is making this combination available again, Aqua-Pharm. I was at the Chicago Experience this last weekend and just happened to sit down at a table with some friends to say hi. I also said hi to the fellow sitting next to them and started up a conversation and it turned out he was running this small company called Aqua-pharm. That turned to small powdered fish food which probably isnt small enough for a first food for bows but Ill report back on that later. When I went to his booth the next day I saw the Med Ick and was quite happy to go home with a sample of that too. 1.2% Malachite green and 18.5% (Methanol stabilized) formaldehyde. The quick cure product I dont believe was methanol stabilized which meant it was only good for about a year before the formaldehyde went bad. This product is good for about 2 years. Anyway if you have also been searching check out aqua-pharm/ for some Med Ick. I hope I dont have to use my free sample any time soon but this is one of those must haves on the shelf if you ever get an outbreak.
