Id like some input. While ultras are what I train for and mostly run, my true joy is speed. I love nothing better than flying through a 5 or 10k. My problem is how to think about them in the midst of training season. Either I run a 5k in the morning, then still need to go out and pick up 15+ in the afternoon, or I find something on Sunday, but Im so tired from Saturday I cant compete. Im just a mid pack ultra guy, but I can be competitive in my age group, sometimes overall, in a sprint. Anyone else out there like fast, short races and have figured out how to integrate them into their ultra schedule?
