Id like to round out my Thanksgiving thankfulness but encouraging - TopicsExpress

Id like to round out my Thanksgiving thankfulness but encouraging my friends to donate an extra item or amount to a charity of your choice (preferably one involving humans, but hey whatever. If you are absolutely desperate to save the Amazonian Basket Fish*, go for it!) For my local friends, CASA Red River is doing their annual Angel Tree and as always they need volunteers to Adopt An Angel. (If youre not familiar with CASA, they provide invaluable services to children in the CPS system: casawf.org.) Contact Stephanie Gorham at 940-766-0552 or email [email protected]. She says theyve had a really good response this year but as always they can use additional donations. (And as always, they can use donations year-round of supplies like toothbrushes, clothes, toiletries, etc.) For those of you who arent local, one of my other favorite charities that doesnt always get a lot of media play is BACA: Bikers Against Child Abuse (bacaworld.org/chapters/united-states/) . They do amazing things for kids too. Local chapters accept monetary donations to help pay for supplies and the stuff they provide to the kids. (And speaking of which, if you happen to be or know a biker in any of these states they dont have a BACA chapter yet - I just saw it when I was looking up the web address: Alaska, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, and Vermont. You might encourage some charitably-minded friends to look into forming a chapter, if you were so inclined.) Ok, thats my do-gooder-you-should-give-people-stuff-why-dont-you-feel-guilty spiel of the year. See you next year! (*I totally made up the Amazonian Basket Fish. So if there really is one, you should be amazed at my awesomeness. Really.)
