Id like to thank you all for the outpouring of support for my daughter @cmaressa ever since this journey began last fall. As of a month or so ago, we thought she had won her fight against cancer (Hodgkin’s Lymphoma). Unfortunately, a biopsy recently revealed her cancer has returned as it does in 10-20% of cases like these. As a parent, there is no greater feeling of helplessness than to see your child go through something like this and be dealt a setback. That being said, I’ve stated all along that this isnt about me and as easy it would be to slip into a Why my child? mentality or any number of other things, as a parent I know that will not help my daughter. One thing I know for sure is that out of darkness always comes hope and light. There is much hope here. This type of recurrence gives us high hopes of a total recovery, though the treatment may be more difficult for her. Maressa feels strongly about sharing her journey in hopes of reaching others similarly afflicted. She hopes her story will help other young people and cancer patients who may not have a famous father, access to world class medical care, or worse - a family to lean on. Our mission is clear: WE will fight again and MARESSA will win AGAIN. While she has decided to share some of her journey, I would ask that everyone please respect her decisions as to the time, place and manner of doing so and give her privacy when she chooses to remain silent. Thank you again for the outpouring of support for my daughter. It means the world to us.
