Id thought I wouldnt have to comment publicly on this but the continous call by some supposed eminent Nigerians to ASUU to end the ongoing strike wouldnt make me keep quiet. Many of them have tagged ASUU members as insensitive and unconcerned about the plight of the students but I stand to disagree! Many of them telling our learned lecturers to consider the students, return to work and continue dialogue! Now the question is; continue dialogue with who? A govt who has over the years been insensitive to the plight of the students and lecturers! ASUU has over the years been talked into returning to work because of students their demands have never been met! Should same continue? What about asking the government to also be considerate by meeting the demands of ASUU and return students to their schools! Just some few weeks ago, a panel submitted a budget of over 3Trillion naira for Nigerias centenary celebration when all ASUU is asking for is less than half a trillion naira!!! If the cost of the centenary celebration which wouldnt last forever is cut or even substituted for the future of the nation, isnt it worth it? As harsh as it might seem for students and people like myself, I would support that ASUU should fight this cause to the last resort! At least their demand isnt just for themselves but also for their students.
