If Bengali was the National Language of India instead of Hindi, this is how Rabindranath Tagores songs would be sung in rest of India -- which is sung well from a tonal, melodic and classical Raaga structural point of view but it lacks the Bengali style and Bengali texture that is only native to the Bengali people. If Suchitra Mitra and Kanika Banerjee could be replaced by Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar, then all Bengalis would switch over to them. Unfortunately the native Bengali texture cannot be reproduced in any vocal rendition of Tagores songs by Non-Bengalis but any attempt to make Rabindranath Tagores music sung all over India is certainly good for the future of Rabindranath Tagores music and it is always welcomed by all Bengalis.
