If I see another post about my white privilege I might have to hit the deactivate button! I dont believe I have any privilege because Im white. My ancestors traveled here from Scotland. They farmed, they worked. They were poor. My grandfather died and left his wife with a houseful of children....my Grandmother raised her 9 living children on her own. In a time where there was no welfare...she picked cotton in the fields and drug my mother behind her on a burlap sack. For lunch, they had a biscuit and a mason jar of water! They lived in a house with wood floors...you could see the chickens running under the house through those floor boards. Most of her life, they didnt have a bathroom, they had an outhouse! I wish someone would explain to me where the privilege is in that?!? My family comes from a long line of hard working folks- Tobys granddaddy was a farmer...they toiled the earth from sun up to sun down! Toby was right beside him! He worked the fields and learned to drive before he was 8! (Im NOT kidding!) Weve never had the opportunity to sit around and have pity on the circumstances because the kids need feeding! The works got to be done. The crops dont wait! We dont all have a fairy tale story because our skin is ivory!
