If I was forced to name the one song that inspired an eleven year old kid to play rock and roll pianna, this is the song and performance. I got to have breakfast with Mac on Woodbine Ave at Chez Notarthomas, courtesy of Jon, Macs bassist and running ponder during those story teller duo tours. I got to finally thank Mac for leading down the path of wrack and ruin....probably a sentiment that he heard often in his travels from piannaplunkers from around the world. But he didnt react with insouciant rock and roll ennui.... he was genuinely grateful to hear that his efforts had spawned yet another rocker. We talked of Johnnie Johnson.... our mutual love if all things that led us to where we both were standing in that moment. For those in the know, the fact that this occured on Woodbine Ave sort of was a full circle moment for me.... I got to finally close a chapter that day, unbeknownst to the graciousness of Mac and the Notarthomas family. The world bid adieu to one of the good ones yesterday. Im gonna sit at the pianna and make a joyful noise for ya, Mac. Hope it helps to get you to the other side. P.S.
