If Lyme existed before,It would have reached epidemic levels years ago. How could Lyme have existed before the 1970s and not have spread like wildfire like it has done in the last few decades. I dont remember reading about anybody claiming to have an unknown illness that fits the symptoms of Lyme before the 1970s. This article is interesting....and it just happened to explode right near the island. Too coincidental. Perhaps there was some type of Borrelia, but it wasnt like what we have now- which is some altered, crossed, much more powerful version of it. examiner/article/did-lyme-disease-originate-out-of-plum-island
