If a boys father was say a truck driver or some other normal - TopicsExpress

If a boys father was say a truck driver or some other normal vocation and went up on the same charges would they be discharged without conviction? Would the judge water down the charges and say they werent serious? Ive spent a lot of time in court watching rangatahi being thrown on the scrap heap for a lot less and the question of avoiding conviction was never even considered. I have no quarrel with Tainui or the Kingitanga but I believe that because of the privileged position this young man has as heir to the throne in no way absolves him from the repercussions of the criminal actions which he and his friends committed. Of course the judge had to discharge them all because to discharge one and not the others there would have been a very public outcry! As it is it feels like the privileged by blood card has been played and won. If this young man has aspirations of becoming the next king then I believe he should have taken responsibility for his actions the same way any other young person be he Maori Pakeha Chinese Islander or any other race would have to. Bad enough there are double standards from the crown that we have lived with mai rano ...now it seems those double standards are being perpetrated by our own!
