If a so-called journalist ever attributes information in this - TopicsExpress

If a so-called journalist ever attributes information in this form: experts say, industry insiders say, or analysts say, etc., without immediate follow-up on the identity of these so-called sources ... immediately call us on it and ask, Really? Plural experts, insiders or analysts? Sometimes theres a journalistic necessity to protect a source here and there, but this kind of attribution is usually just lazy, sometimes just pure B.S., and always should be questioned by readers (and preferably editors prior to publication). Sometimes its a sketchy reporters way of making one side of a story appear more valid because he or she wants the reader to think more than one expert, analyst or insider is validating it. Dont trust it as news; its often a way of disguising opinion as fact.
