If any of you know Fast Eddie (Ed Trousseau, a great legend in Minnesota running), youll enjoy hearing about his latest accomplishment...The Cornbelt 24 Hour Track Race is an annual event drawing great runners over the years from across the USA. It is held at North Scott High School track in Eldridge, IA. the first weekend in May. The 74-year old had this to say about his 100K run over the weekend: When some of the faster male runners got foot and leg issues as the hours rolled by and had to stop to fix them I managed to continue on and push through my various pains. Maybe I am learning to prepare myself and pace to prevent pain other than the expected sore muscles. Lo and behold, Fast Eddie was the overall male winner! He logged 87.3 miles in 15:38:07. Eddie said the top 3 female runners, one a national champion and 2 others national class and all much younger than me prevailed. Women are frequently winners in these endurance events. So maybe the story of this years race will be Fast Ladies and an old man prevail at the Cornbelt 24 Hour. Just another fantastic, motivating story to keep us going out there on the roads! Way to go Fast Eddie, Way to go!
