If anyone is there who shares in peace, your peace will rest on that person; but if not, it will return to you (Lk 10:6) Free Legal Aid is a scheme under which law students offer free legal services to people in villages. Often when they go knocking on doors, they are turned away or become the target of a tirade of abuses. However, people who welcome them receive the full benefit of it. Similarly, in todays Gospel, we see that the missionaries of Jesus will sometimes be received peacefully and sometime not. If we look from the point of view of the missionaries we feel inspired by Jesus practical advice. First, never go alone. Second, do not expect the world to be welcoming. Third, do not lose patience. Finally, do not just trey to make big numbers by visiting endless houses; rather, spend some time with each family. Today we honour St Luke, the evangelist. Although he was not a Jew, he accompanied St Paul and spread the Gospel. It might have seemed strange for the Jews to receive the Good News from a non-Jew, and Luke may have experienced rejection. But in no way was he bitter against the Jews. From him we learn that the ethnicity or the caste or the language of the person who brings Gods message is not important.Sometimes, strange teach us to be better human beings. Fruit: Am I ready to welcome in peace the stranger who comes calling today?
