If fate and/or timing ever presents you with a chance to hear - TopicsExpress

If fate and/or timing ever presents you with a chance to hear Stephen King speak, do not miss it. Despite the horrendous logistics of the event, it was well worth it. King is charming, wise, funny, profane, and utterly irreverent. He talked about his writing process, likening it to finding a bright red string trailing out of a mouse hole and pulling it, just to see what happens. He says that he starts with an image and works from there. He told the story about Cujo. He was getting his motorcycle repaired and went to a mechanic who lived and worked well off the beaten path. His bike died just as he made it to the barn-shop. Out lopes a mangy St. Bernard that sits and snarls and twitches at him. The mechanic says, Huh, he aint usually like that. Buster must not like your face. Then he read a long passage from his newest book, Revival, and fielded some rather lame questions from the audience (mostly answering them, um, no, [insert profoundity] had no lasting effect on me whatsoever.)
