If it hurts, it must be good for me. A quote from a recent T Nation article. The most common misconception I hear every day from members and clients, and unfortunately other trainers whose philosophy on fitness is based on this- PAIN!! (Im looking in your direction Insanity).... While training hard is of course greater than doing a moderate workout, as Ive said before training smart is the number one rule- ie. whatever your goal is, ensure it is designed and structured to specifically benefit you to reach this target. Ive seen countless workouts that revolve around making the client hurt and pushing them beyond their limit. However, I have observed many of these over a long period and have yet to see results, and unfortunately have learnt of injuries these people carry due to the hard training which has put them in danger. So remember, before you set off on your health and fitness regime, sit down and enlighten yourself and seek help from a real expert if necessary to ensure you are on the right track to success. To attain maximum long-term results ensure you train smart and avoid any crazy workouts based around pain.
