If people find fault with you and try to put you into bad light, wrongly slandering and vilifying you. . . . . . just step back and observe yourself. Dont harbor any dislike, dont enter into it any contests, and dont get upset, angry, or resentful. Just cut right through it and be as if you never heard or saw it. Eventually malevolent pests will disappear of themselves. Eventually. But if you contend with them, then a bad name will bounce back and forth with never an end in sight. - Yuanwu Zi Never react emotionally to criticism. Analyze yourself to determine whether it is justified. If it is, correct yourself. Otherwise, go on about your business. - Norman Vincent Peale Now and then all of us fall under heavy criticism. When we are angered and hurt, its difficult not to retaliate in kind. Yet we can restrain ourselves and then probe ourselves, asking whether our critics were really right. If so, we can admit our defects to them. This usually clears the air for mutual understanding. Suppose our critics are being unfair. Then we can try calm persuasion. If they continue to rant, it is still possible for us--in our hearts--to forgive them. Maybe a sense of humor can be our saving grace-- --thus we can both forgive and forget. - W.G. Wilson Your greatness is measured by your kindness; your education and intellect by your modesty; . . . and your real caliber is measured by the consideration and tolerance you have for others, . . . especially when they have hurt you or are in the wrong. - William J. H. Boetcker Sometimes ... just sometimes ... . . .when we are generous and kind in small, barely detectable ways it can change someone elses life forever. - Margaret Cho
