If someone with active TB is coughing in a room you are in will - TopicsExpress

If someone with active TB is coughing in a room you are in will you catch it...YES YOU WILL. That is how it is spread. 25% of the tests show negative when a person is positive....The only way to tell is to do a sputum test, chest xray and that is almost NEVER done. Im waiting to see who will pay since the illegal immigrants from around the world have been allowed to break our laws and come here while sick, without documentation. I only hope it isnt MXDR, deadly TB that will cost tens of thousands for a treatment that will prolong life a bit. Obamacare crushed my personal insurance payments. I have had to cut visits to the doctor for a chronic, progressive, life threatening medical condition because my share is too much money to justify for an untreatable condition. It can only provide comfort. It isnt contagious. I cant afford years of treatment for the sniffles, much less a disease like that. If this gets into our schools, the children will spread it to their parents and other members of the household. Irresponsible behavior by people all over the world, especially in developing countries such as India and Mexico, has led to an explosion of multi-drug resistant (MDR) and extensively drug resistant (XDR) versions of TB. Such cases are rampant in countries that supply cheap labor (both legal and illegal) to the United States. During the heyday of immigration through Ellis Island, prospective immigrants were medically screened and sent back to their home country if there was evidence of TB. Today, instead of screening undesirable people at the border, we are asked to pay our health workers to treat them. creators/opinion/phyllis-schlafly/immigration-danger-from-drug-resistant-tb.html
