If the young man that made the recording of this thinks this is an abusive tirade, wow, hes gonna have a difficult time in the workplace. Apparently, hes still bitter about this and wants it investigated. The context is apparently that the student drum major had already been disciplined in the past and apparently still did not listen, based on this recording, which was made secretly. Merritt and I have fallen squarely on different sides of a discussion on Director Waters...she is concerned about exactly what Dr. Drake discussed and the potential for a culture of hazing. As a parent, if she came to me and told me that in her role in an organization, someone had spoken to her like this, I would tell her to grow up, to suck it up and do what she was told (channeling my dad!) or drop out. She has been actively involved in two sports and she was coached by people who made her a better person and a better athlete due to these types of tirades. No wonder we have raised such a generation of winners, those special little snowflakes who cannot accept feedback. I hope that the University does not spend one more minute on this aspect of the investigation...
