If theres one thing I know, a Gearhead never goes it alone. Thats something about car culture that never disappoints - how strong our bond is. Its evident with every hardship, every accident, and every loss of life; you can always count on car enthusiasts to be there, sleeves rolled up, right beside you. You dont have to be blood to be family are the words Ive always used to describe this bond, its a bond that goes beyond our love of cars. Were a family - a huge, dysfunctional, borderline insane - but incredible tight family. One that can always be counted on for support, when its needed most. Tonight I watched as part of this family mourned the loss of their friend, Todd Vanhook. I watched as his friends, and fellow car enthusiasts gathered to see him off, in the most fitting way of all: stories of his life, the crackle of two-steps and rev limiters, the smell of burned rubber, and that sense of community that can only come from this group. I did my best to capture that this evening with these pictures. Im proud of all of Todds friends and the Wilmington car community for the unwavering support. My heart goes out to the Vanhook family, they will be in my thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. Sam, much love to you, my brother, whatever you need, Im here. R.I.P. TODD VANHOOK car meet, to everyone who attended, you rock.
