If there’s one point that Kanye West was completely correct - TopicsExpress

If there’s one point that Kanye West was completely correct about in his interview with Zane, it was how Hip-Hop’s massive growth has failed to significantly penetrate the glass ceilings which are being held firmly in place due to systemic racism. Rappers can star in multi-million dollar Hollywood movies, go on Broadway, get daytime TV shows and star in popular cable shows, yet there is still a prevalent sense of xenophobia that exists under the surface of this success. It’s almost like going to the Zoo and talking about how much you love seeing all the animals – when what you really mean is that you love seeing all the animals behind cages. Because if those cages flew open while you were there, that would be your LEAST favourite place on the face of the Earth. And it’s that same Zoo-like curiosity that plagued the GQ interview. thisisyourconscience/2013/11/heres-how-kendrick-lamars-made-smart-young-black-men-proud-by-boycotting-gq/
