If we can look at the phenomenon of death without judgment, we - TopicsExpress

If we can look at the phenomenon of death without judgment, we will discover that we are, in fact, dancing between the polarities of life and death all the time. Within us, cells are dying all the time, but we are not aware of those events. Cells are also being born within us, but we are not aware of those moments either. It is only when more cells die than are born, that we start to become aware of our own aging process, and the slow but sure walk towards our own death. Yet, death is not the enemy. Rather, it is our stubborn refusal to acknowledge the nature of our being, which is impermanence, that creates much dis-ease in our minds and bodies. Acknowledging our own mortality, and the mortality of others, can help us live life to the full, rather than pushing things into the future. Death creates a vital sense of aliveness and urgency. It helps us recognize the preciousness of this life. Without death, life is utterly meaningless. So why do we see insist on seeing death as negative? We do we deny its existence, and its inevitability? The answer is to do with our conditioning... we have been trained to see death in a negative way: Death in our civilization is seen as entirely negative, as if it shouldn’t be happening. Because it’s denied, people are so shocked when somebody dies – as if it’s not possible. We don’t live with the familiarity of death, as some more ancient cultures still do. The familiarity of death isn’t there. Everything is hidden, the dead body is hidden. In India you can see the dead bodies being carried through the streets, and being burned in public. To the Westerners, it’s terrible. As the consciousness is changing, I feel that more and more death will become an important part of the evolutionary process, the process of the arising consciousness on our planet. ~ Eckhart Tolle The good news is that we can drop our conditioning. We can learn to see with new eyes. Start with your own breath... it is the closest thing to witnessing your own impermanence. Inhale... exhale... inhale... exhale... notice the rhythm of your breath as it enters the body, and then leaves the body. Each out-breath is a dying, a letting go... Each moment is unknown, and nothing is guaranteed. Except death. So, dont fight against this; use this knowledge constructively and creatively in your life. Be the witness of your own life, and death. Jaime Tanna energytherapy.biz
