If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9 the word if simply means choice it is a word that describes the inner most desire whatever that may be for you; in that moment your if can follow and be partaker of the crowd or it can be keep you separated from them. IF: only (he/she) listened, cared, loved me, do what i say, let me in, notice me...if is a condition of the mind and heart that needs to change and reflect the work God has prepared for you and the identity He sees you...go back and read 2 Chronicles 7:14 and then read 1 John 1:1, 5-10 The author then gives clarity on the importance of walking in the light and knowing truth because sin is so prevelent in the world and to let you know that for one you do not have to sin (point) and two that if you do (by choice) that Jesus advocates to the Father for you STOP letting if determine your choice to sin but let it cause you to turn from sin...if you believe? how much do you believe? what do you believe? All things are possible to them that___?___ be encouraged ~in Him~
