If you are in Woodstock, NY, and I encourage you to visit, there - TopicsExpress

If you are in Woodstock, NY, and I encourage you to visit, there are some wonderful places to go, particularly the North American Seat of the Karmpa (pictures will be posted shortly). If your time is limited to half a day, start near Mirabai Books of Woodstock (mirabai) on Mill Hill Road, one block from the center of town. Walk up the Golden Notebook on Tinker Street. Be careful, you may easily get pulled into one of the many places to eat and not find your way back out. Stay on Tinker and on your left will be a fine little neo-pagan shop whose name escapes me, and across from it is Dharmaware (East Tinker Street). Walking back down you can find a small shop packed with statues near the Dutch Reformed Lutheran Church (on the square), and a few steps away, Golden Cafe on the Green. It is organic, vegetarian, whole foods. A vegan menu, that offered a nice selection, the serving was filling, and the service great. The place was packed, and in my short time there having an early dinner, they took three reservations, for later that night, and rarely had an empty seat. Around the corner on Rock City Road, is TIbetan Arts & Crafts, and across from it is the municipal parking where you can park all day for $5.00. From there, head up Rock City Road, to the top of the mountain and visit KTD. Be careful! They have a great bookshop as well, with lots of specialty titles from small presses, and an entire room filled with statues and thankas.
