If you are reading this status, please really read it and do not dismiss it as the bitter ramblings of a spurned parent. Disappointed #Wave105 Baby & Toddler of the Year 2014 competition. Not that our son did not win. It was a tough competition & I do not envy those who had to judge it. What did disappoint me was that, with all the heart warming stories of IVF miracles, & a cleft lip & palate repair & with all the information we gave you about Ethans major heart surgery & 22q11 diagnosis, why, oh why, with all that to choose from, did you pick Ethans love of Mickey Mouse to introduce him & the sole thing about him? We did not start off in this competition to win, & certainly not for financial gain. Once we got through to the semis, all we wanted to do was raise awareness for those with Ethans condition & highlight the incredible work of #FriendsofPICU & #FamiliesofOceanWard. If one person went away today & Googled Di Georges syndrome then one more person would understand what our 22quties go through & would hopefully pass that on to their children or friends. And hopefully make the world a more tolerant place. Cannot help but think, with a heavy heart, that it would not do to have a child with a disability in the competition. I hope I am being cynical. Well done Ethan & all the entrants. You always prove that #22qcando! Love you always xxxxxxxxxxx
