If you attend UCR and have voted you might have noticed my name is - TopicsExpress

If you attend UCR and have voted you might have noticed my name is not in the ballot. I want to inform you that I have officially been disqualified from this years elections. This morning at the special senate meeting I shared my testimony but was put aside, my issue was made less for many reasons according to some members of senate and executive cabinet. One reason being is because there are more important issues that we should be dealing about like slavery and divestment. Another, because as a student of UCR and not a member of student government my opinion and how I interpret the by-laws and constitution is not as true as how the elections director. Even though, just last week he stated the constitution was vague and we should fight against it today he went against those words. FYI, I am not threatening you in any way I just feel like this should be made aware to the UCR public because everyone has the right to know what went down at todays meeting. It was mentioned by the elections director and officer of external affairs that the senate did NOT have the right to over rule judicials branch decision and that was final. Can someone please remind how check and balances work? I think it was unfair that the last person to speak was the elections direction because he clearly misinformed the entire senate. After the executive vice president made everyone aware of what the constitution actually stated there was a member of senate who spoke out stating she felt she was misinformed and would like to reconsider the votes against myself and those who were also targeted. Our ASUCR President decides to encourage senate to walk out right after she as done speaking. There were members of the senate stating they had class and so on. They walk out and the meeting is adjourned. The senate and ecab took over an hour to speak on how they felt about this issue and when it was time for the public to speak, we were limited to TWO speakers including myself. SHAME! I want to let the UCR student body that these elected leaders are paid with our fees! These elected officials who shut down the publics voice because all of a sudden they had class to attend but when they kept on repeating the same thing they had forgotten all about their classes. SHAME! I want to thank those members of ASUCR who stood along the student body and were there to hear us out. During the senate discussion there were few members who stated that the election by laws and constitution is not vague and we strictly follow it. LIES! The party that goes by ABC has our mascot in their party t-shirt but the election by-laws clearly states that we cannot use our mascot as any form of advertisement, logo or any political tactic. WHY WERE THEIR SHIRTS APPROVED IN THE FIRST PLACE? SHAME! I am not targeting you all personally and if anyone is taking this personal then you have a problem. There was a chance for me to lose and a chance to win but again, all I was asking for was a fair judgement. I hope my friends of Vox Populi, [YOUR]side, and [ABC] take this as an experience to learn from and please never step down as a person. There have been posters torn down all over campus and that should not happen, we are all here for the same cause!!! With all of that being said, I INVITE ALL OF MY FRIENDS TO ATTEND THE NEXT SENATE MEETING THIS WEDNESDAY AT 6:30pm. YOU ALL NEED TO ATTEND AND SPEAK, LET THE SENATE AND ECAB KNOW THAT OUR FEES ARE NOT BEING WASTED FOR THEM TO WALK OUT OF THE IMPORTANT VOTES OR TO MAKE A MEMBER OF THE STUDENT BODY LIKE MYSELF FEEL LESS. THAT YOU ARE NOT PAYING FOR POLITICAL CORRUPTION, NOR ARE YOU PAYING FOR ANY MISTAKES. SHAME!! Neftali Galarza thank you for wording this because I was completely speechless. Im not on the ballot either yall!
