If you dont like the idea of eating unsafe GMO fish spliced with the genes of several unrelated species,please sign this petition.The implications are frightening-theyll be selling these things unlabeled(and its not as healthy as natural salmon)The genes that were spliced in cause these salmon to mature quickly-but that also means that they must eat five times as much food-imagine the effect on the ecosystem if these GM salmon get out?The alien snakehead fish and the flying Carp are causing enough harvoc to our natural lake and river ecosystems-we dont need GM fish added to the mix.And live things have a way of being uncontainable.Just look upon the spread of Africanized bees,and fire antsif you dont agree(and African bees Were accidental lab escapees!One has only to look at the cases of GM corn and wheat,(80% of our USA corn crop is now contaminated w/escaped GM corn genes-only organic corn may be uncontaminated-and even that may not be safe. BT gene implanted hybrid weeds now grow across the US-where they kill pollinating bees and butterflies by shutting down their digestive systems.GM organisms have a dreadful safety record and a truly impressive escape record.If you dont want GM salmon on your plate,sign this petition.
