If you had just asked… I am guilty of going through my day - TopicsExpress

If you had just asked… I am guilty of going through my day making judgment calls on the character of different people I meet. Then later, maybe days or even years, I get to know them and find I was all wrong about who I thought they were. Has that ever happened to you? We are called on to be discerning, yet unfortunately we too often shortcut the process of understanding the situation because we are too busy with our own plans. God asks us to be in relationship with him AND with our fellow human beings. Without that connection, we are doomed to repeat poor judgment calls. Eli the high priest made that mistake in front of the Tabernacle one day. But Hannah replied, Thats not the way it is, my lord! I am under a great deal of stress. I have drunk neither wine nor beer. Rather, I have poured out my soul to the Lord. Dont consider your servant a wicked woman, for until now I have spoken from my deep pain and anguish. Eli replied, Go in peace, and may the God of Israel grant the request that you have asked of him. 1Samuel 1:15-17 [NET] This person, who on first glance appeared to be drunk, really was fully devoted to God, and her son became one of the greatest prophets of God in the entire Old Testament. Think about your own acquaintances today. In reality what great things might God have in store for his Glory that will come to pass?—if only we connect, communicate and give the blessing of peace so that they may go and be what God has called them to be.
