If you have type 2 diabetes, or know someone who does, heres something that might interest you. I started eating a couple small raw potatoes each day, and my morning fasting blood sugar is suddenly down almost exactly 20 points, consistently. The theory is that raw potatoes contain RS, or Resistant Starches. Other foods also have it, but not any of the foods we normally eat... so we get very little of it. Yet weve evolved to need it, much like fiber I suppose. RS is thought to have several benefits, but one important to us diabetics is: recent studies indicate they might be stimulating the colon itself to produce insulin. Thats my limited understanding anyway. Anyway, for me it seems to be working. Its cheap, easy, doesnt taste that good but ok with a bit of salt, or you could spend money and buy a special powder. Google it. :)
