If you hired a private detective to spy on me, here’s what he’d report: “I have observed the subject browsing in bookstores, taking photos of sport and landscapes around him with his fancy camera, or doing random walks around the city. A stakeout of his apartment revealed friends coming and going often, especially for weekend movie screenings. He frequently patronises local university and local Japanese joint.” By day I work in marketing in an office with the world’s best people and the world’s worst coffee. Three days a week, I lose the tie, grab a backpack and head to university, where I get the brain fuel I need towards my goal of starting my own evil corporation. Imagine this: a genie with the voice of Robin Williams makes my ideal woman appear out of thin air. She’d be down-to-earth, funny, enjoy adventure travel and worldly conversation, and be open to having me introduce her to some of my favorite restaurants, like Gumshara and Chat Thai. But of course, I wouldn’t ask the genie for that, I’d ask for 1,000 wishes. You could maybe have one if you asked nicely. What would you use it for?
