If you know me, you know I hate the sci-fi fantasy genre. But Godzilla far exceeded my expectations. Theres actually a strong human interest element, which is well-developed and intercuts with the OTT SFX, providing welcome relief. The acting is actually, pretty good. Ken Watanabe, David Strathairn, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Johnson-Taylor, and Elisabeth Olsen, all put in very credible performances. The cinematography is outstanding (the DOP was sitting behind me at the premiere), and so is the music (ditto for composer). And you have not just one Godzilla but 2 other Mutos, doing what you expect them to do, lots of roaring and destroying.
