If you read my posts...Make Sure You Read This One. I want to point out some ways that you could be putting your safety and security at risk, right here on FB and the internet. Ways that criminals ARE capitalizing on. They are using Google Streetview to review home layouts for robberies, when you allow friends of friends on your FB page or have an open profile keep in mind...are you showing people where you are and what you have based on the pics of your new toys and home electronics? Are you posting information on how long your going to be gone from home on trips and vacations in posts and checking in at airports/departure points? I do...or did. Could you post your vacation pics in a grouping AFTER you get home so that people dont know how far or long you will be gone? Is your address and phone number with area code accessible on any of your profiles to anyone besides your most trusted friends? Food for thought...the average burgler tries to be in and out your house in 10 minutes. A burglery who knows your out of town stays longer and takes more expensive items. Having timers or motion sensitive lights, your mail and door hangers picked up, and having a home security system sign (swipe someones today...just kidding) deters 9 out of 10 thieves. I recommend that you go back through your FB, Twitter, Foursquare, Google yourself and anything else your on and try to reverse stalk yourself to see just how much a stranger can find out about you based on your shared information. Also, as we approach the holidays, 1) make sure that your using your debit card as a credit card to reduce exposure due to fraud, 2) watch the Christmas help with your ATM, 3) make sure you have text or email notices sent to your phone for EVERY transaction that happens with your account (so your not like me, catching fraud that started in November in February), 4) always get and actually look at your receipt and 5) avoid places that still use old card-crunch equipment that leaves them with carbon copies of your card...your probably dont need their merchandise that bad!
