If your going to ban head dresses from festivals you should also be banning afro wigs, Asian rice paddy hats, Om symbols, prayer beads, running around naked, Mexican Sombreros, cowboy hats, robes resembling monks robes, anything resembling samurai garments and people with tribal tattoos similar to the ones given to Hawaiian warriors. Its like me demanding that Norte Dame change their mascot due to the fact that I am Irish and a drunken fighting Irish dude in tights grossly offends me. If you havent notice all our cultures symbols and styles are all being thrown into a melting pot as people create their own religious beliefs by picking and choosing different parts from different cultures. How many of you burn sage yet meditate like a Buddhist. Liking something cultural significant and wearing it does not mean I am a racist, it actually means I find it beautiful and feel grateful that I was able to be brought up in and around it. Did anyone ever think that by saying someone from a different race cannot wear something from your race is racist. Its like making a rule that people who arent Caucasian cant wear cowboy hats because its offensive. Or how about only a Caucasians can be priest. People need to just love each other and love each others differences with no judgments past, unless it actually hurts others. Holding grudges from our past forefathers mistakes by being hyper sensitive will not fix anything. Letting go of the past and focusing on building a better multicultural future is what is important now.
