If your site ranking has gone down after the recent Google - TopicsExpress

If your site ranking has gone down after the recent Google algorithm update, then you need to check couple of factors here. 1. Content 2. Backlinks Let me explain what you need to check in these two variables. 1. Content: Do you have low value content on your website? To check whether you have low value content, just check your bounce rate. Its in fact a very good metric to analyze the sites worth and whether the site is providing value to the organic traffic landing on the site. If the bounce rate is higher than 70%, then you need to take certain steps to create pillar posts in your niche and let the world know about it. Make your site authoritative. Do not let it be one in the crowd. You are special, so your site visitors should recognize your potential and how you can help them with invaluable content on your site. If your plan is to just slap Adsense on the sites, then above all does not apply for you. 2. Backlinks: Frankly, tell me how many desperate links have you created when the site was started? Posted comments, created profiles and did all the black hat stuff(but at a minimal scale) to just see that green 1(PR) on your site? As the time goes by and your site gets a good ranking, with new Google algorthm changes, those age old backlinks start creating negative effect on your sites. Or your competition might be creating those spam backlinks to degrade your site in search engine rankings. Either way, your site is going to take the death blow if you do not act fast. So, keep checking for backlinks on a regular basis and do not fire off mass commenting or mass publishing tools, just because you can afford them. Your site can not survive if ignored by search engines. I will be posting topics like these on a continual basis. Please comment with any questions you have. Lets learn more through group active communication. Thanks, Suchitra.
